PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS
Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technology Program trains the intermediate manpower deployed in the field of the production, establishment and operation of heating, cooling and ventilation systems. Air conditioning and refrigeration technicians may work in factories, mills or cold storages, belonging to public bodies or private organizations, or may set up private own repair shop.
AIM OF THE PROGRAM
Aim of the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technology Program train the intermediate manpower deployed in the field of the production, establishment and operation of heating, cooling and ventilation systems.
REFRIGERATION AND AIR CONDITIONING TECHNICIAN
Air conditioning and refrigeration technician up to be effective on repairing defective equipment, must also understand the design and function of a variety of air conditioning and refrigeration systems. Technicians will work in collaboration with employees working at the air conditioning and refrigeration engineering and at various levels of production during their tasks.
REQUIREMENTS OF VOCATIONAL TRAINING ENTRY
Students graduating from programs given below can apply to pass without examination in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Program. If students have necessary conditions, they can be placed on the program.
Programs of Vocational High Schools:
- Plumbing,
- Plumbing-Heating-Central Heating,
- Refrigeration and Air Conditioning,
- Installation Technology (Heating Natural Gas),
- Installation Technology (Heating and Plumbing),
Students graduating from high school or passing without examination of vocational high schools other than the specified sections have to take an examination of Higher Education Entrance Examination (YGS) made by the OSYM. They can be placed in the departments which they want, provided that taking sufficient YGS score of "Sayısal (SAY)" and that are open quota remains in the departments.
DURATION AND CONTENT OF THE TRAINING
Training period in the program is two years. Given courses to the students for gaining the knowledge and skills during the training are offered on the following topics:
- Air Conditioning Systems
- Cooling Systems
- Gas Installation Systems
- Plumbing Systems
- Heating Systems
- Ventilation Systems
- Basic Electric
- Automatic Control and Automation Systems
- Commercial Computer Programs
GAINED DEGREE OF GRADUATES AND WORKING AREAS
The title of "Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technician" is given who graduates from Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technology Program. Air Conditioning and Refrigeration technician under the supervision and management of mechanical engineer, executes by the scheduled jobs like installing, construction and operating heating, cooling and ventilation systems of buildings, mounting engines , laying pipes, maintenances and repairs of the systems. Also, he/she has the right of vertical transmission to the mechanical engineering and plumbing teacher.
Working Areas: Air conditioning and refrigeration technicians may work in factories, mills or cold storages, belonging to public bodies or private organizations, or may set up private own repair shop.
During the Training; Students can benefit student credits given by Education Credit and Hostels Institution and loan and scholarship opportunities given by other public institutions during their education.
After the Training; Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Technicians working in the state-owned institutions and organizations involved in the Act No. 657 of the State Office of Technical Services in class coefficient takes charges provided by grade level. Charges of employees working in the private sector are determined by mutual agreement.
CAREER ADVANCEMENT
After completing successfully associate`s degree program, if they are successful in Dikey Geçiş Sınavı (DGS) made by OSYM, they can switch to vertical degree programs given below:
Mechanical Engineering,
Department of Plumbing Education
If technician wants, he/she can specialize in one of the areas of refrigeration, air conditioning, or heating. In addition, he/she can elevate position in the workplace administrator.

Air Conditioning Laboratory:100 m2
Cooling Laboratory: 80 m2
Basic Electric Laboratory: 20 m2
Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Workshop: 100 m2
WORKSHOP AND LABORATORY OPPORTUNITIES
Some tools in the workshop are: hand tools and supplies, mechanical and electrical measuring instruments, oxyacetylene welding for coupling and joining the pipe, soldering, screw assembly kits, drilling machine, air conditioning equipment, machinery and vacuum pumps for the production of channel, refrigerant charging cylinders and manifolds.
Experimental sets in the laboratory are: cooling training unit, computer aided training cooling unit, cold room unit, mechanical heat pump, bench-top cooling tower training unit, air conditioning training unit, the refrigeration circuit, the electrical fault detection unit and air conditioning and refrigeration systems equipment.
COOPERATION WITH INDUSTRY
Seminars have been arranged and speakers have been invited for the service organizations of the leading companies in the sector.
