PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS
Program consists of four-semester. The program description: production of electricity, controlling of electricity, transmission, distribution, use electricity in heating, lighting and power supply, the production of electrical equipment, testing and measurement, establishment of secure electricity in structures, maintaining electric tools and equipment, and educate technicians in for troubleshooting.
Students have the opportunity to practice in their internships on workplace during the summer months.
AIM OF THE PROGRAM
Graduates titled electrical technicians who are qualified personnel take part in the establishment of any plant continuous operation of enterprises, control of electrical appliance and tools, maintenance and repair of factories, continuity of production, generation, transmission and distribution of power. Program trains qualified personnel to meet the demands and developments of the sector.
ELECTRICAL TECHNICIAN
Electrical technician is the intermediate personnel of working between electrical engineers and technicians for installation, operation, maintenance and repair of all kinds of and machines on the establishment, distribution and using of electric power generation.
REQUIREMENTS OF VOCATIONAL TRAINING ENTRY
Students who graduate from the departments of the vocational high schools given below may enter the Electrical Program associate degree program without taking an examination:
Electrical, Electrical & Electronics, Electromechanical, Electronics, Industrial Electronics, Marine Electronics and Communications, Control and Instrumentation Technology, Automatic Control, Telecommunication, Medical Electronics, Aircraft Maintenance Technician and Electronics, Aircraft Electronics, Industrial Automation Technology (Electronics) Aircraft Maintenance and Electronics.
Students graduating from high school or passing without examination of vocational high schools other than the specified sections have to take an examination of Higher Education Entrance Examination (YGS) made by the OSYM. They can be placed in the departments which they want, provided that taking sufficient YGS score of "Sayısal (SAY)" and that are open quota remains in the departments.
TRAINING DURATION AND CONTENT
Fulfilling the 120 ECTS and doing their summer practice is the graduation requirements from the program for the students. Students study in job-site applications related to their professions during 30 working days for internship. Following compulsory and elective courses are taught to the students during the 2-year program (4 semesters):
GAINED DEGREE OF GRADUATES AND WORKING AREAS
Associate`s degree diploma and title of "Electrical Technician" is given to the students successfully completed education of the program. Electrical technician does the following tasks according to the plan prepared by an electrical engineer:
• Places the devices accordance with the project for operation in electrical installation in the workplace,
• Plans and follows the works on the identifying and removal of faults occurring in operating in all low-voltage, power and lighting systems. Where necessary, directly interferes in incident, Makes experiments and tests to check and development of the system.
DURING THE TRAINING
Students can benefit student credits given by Education Credit and Hostels Institution and loan and scholarship opportunities given by other public institutions during their education.
AFTER THE TRAINING
Electrical Technicians working in the state-owned institutions and organizations involved in the Act No. 657 of the State Office of Technical Services in class coefficient takes charges provided by grade level. Charges of employees working in the private sector are determined by mutual agreement.

After completing successfully associate`s degree program, if they are successful in Dikey Geçiş Sınavı (DGS) made by OSYM, they can switch to vertical degree programs given below:

WORKING AREAS AND JOB OPPORTUNITIES
Professionals can be employed in public and private organizations or can work independently. They can work at organizations such as the Turkey`s Electricity Distribution Company, Turkey Radio and Television Corporation, State Water Works, Mechanical and Chemical Institute, and General Directorate of Rural Services, or can work in various ministries, including the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources. Nowadays, there isn`t any area where electricity is not used. As industrialization grew, spreading the use of electricity.
