ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The program is a four-semester educational curriculum designed to train technicians in the generation, control, transmission, and distribution of electricity; the use of electricity in heating, lighting, and power supply; the production, testing, and measurement of electrical equipment; the safe installation of electrical systems in buildings; and the maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical devices and systems. As of the 2024–2025 academic year, the program has adopted the 3+1 Workplace Training Model. With this model, the fourth semester includes a practical internship period where students gain hands-on experience in the field.

PURPOSE OF THE PROGRAM
The aim of the program is to meet the need for qualified intermediate technical personnel who are equipped with the professional knowledge and skills sought by both the public and private sectors, follow current technological advancements, continuously improve themselves, and act as a bridge between engineers and technicians. Graduates of the program, holding the title of Technician, are qualified to take part in the installation of various facilities, ensure the continuous operation of enterprises, and carry out the control, maintenance, and repair of electrical devices and equipment. They also play key roles in ensuring continuous production in factories as well as in the generation, transmission, and distribution of energy. The Electrical Program trains skilled personnel in line with the demands and developments of the sector.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR VOCATIONAL EDUCATION
In accordance with the regulations set by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), admission to this program is carried out through the examination system administered by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). Candidates must be graduates of a high school or an equivalent institution and must have achieved a sufficient score in the TYT (Basic Proficiency Test) conducted by ÖSYM to be placed in the program.
For the admission and registration of foreign students: those whose nationality is not Turkish Republic (TR) or Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), as well as dual citizens whose one nationality is not TR or TRNC, are evaluated as foreign nationals. Turkish citizens who continued their secondary education abroad before 01/02/2013 and completed the last three years of their secondary education (high school) in a foreign country other than the TRNC (including those who completed all of their secondary education in Turkish schools opened abroad under the Turkish Ministry of National Education) may apply to the quotas for students admitted from abroad.
For candidates who began their secondary education abroad after 01/02/2013, only those who have completed all of their secondary education (high school) in a foreign country other than the TRNC (including those who completed all of their secondary education in Turkish schools opened abroad under the Turkish Ministry of National Education) may apply to the quotas for students admitted from abroad.
Applicants who are TRNC citizens residing in the TRNC, have completed their secondary education (high school) in the TRNC, and possess GCE AL examination results, as well as those who enrolled and received education in colleges or high schools in other countries between 2005 and 2010 and possess or will possess GCE AL examination results, are eligible to apply.

DURATION AND CONTENT OF EDUCATION
The program is conducted using a 3+1 workplace training model. Within this model, the 4-semester education comprises 3 semesters of formal classroom instruction and 1 semester of full-time hands-on training in a business setting. During the course of their studies, students take the following courses:
1st Semester: Vocational Mathematics I, Scientific Principles of Technology, Electrical Machines, Electrical and Electronic Measurement Techniques, Direct Current Circuits, Microcontrollers
2nd Semester: Vocational Mathematics II, Analog Electronics, Alternating Current Circuit Analysis, Business World and Entrepreneurship, Sectoral Occupational Health and Safety, Electromechanical Control Systems, Microcontroller Applications
3rd Semester: Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Transmission and Distribution of Electrical Energy, Electrical Installation Plans, Electrical Maintenance and Fault Detection, High Voltage Techniques, Industrial Control and Components, Visual Programming
4th Semester: On-the-Job Vocational Training
Additionally, students take general culture courses such as Principles of Atatürk and History of Turkish Reforms, Turkish Language, Foreign Language, and Fine Arts.

DURING THE EDUCATION
Throughout their education, students may benefit from student loans provided by the Credit and Dormitories Institution as well as scholarships and financial support from other public institutions and organizations.

POST-GRADUATION
Upon graduation, electrical technicians employed in public institutions are compensated based on the coefficients and allowances specified under the Technical Services Class of the Civil Servants Law No. 657. In the private sector, salaries are determined through mutual agreement between the employee and employer.

DEGREE AND JOB TITLES OF GRADUATES
Graduates who successfully complete the Electrical Program receive an associate degree and earn the title of "Electrical Technician." Electrical technicians work under the supervision of electrical engineers and ensure that devices are installed in accordance with project plans for electrical installations within a facility. They plan and oversee the detection and repair of faults in all low-voltage, power, and lighting systems within an enterprise. When necessary, they intervene directly. They also conduct experiments and tests to monitor and improve the system.

ELECTRICAL TECHNICIAN
An electrical technician is a mid-level professional who operates between electrical engineers and technicians, responsible for the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of all kinds of electrical installations and machines related to the generation, distribution, and utilization of electrical energy.
